The Still Point

The teachers

Three people, one steady pace.

Every class caps at fourteen, so the teacher actually sees you. Meet the people who will.

Portrait of Maya Chen

Founder and lead teacher

Maya Chen

It started with six mats and a borrowed room: the first classes ran in a community hall with a temperamental old ceiling fan. Maya built the studio around being expected somewhere, once a week, by name.

Community host, the Sangha

Amara Diallo

Amara hosts the online circle, so she knows which classes actually help. She keeps Sunday’s community class welcoming and the door open.

How we teach

Four things you can hold us to.

Not studio poetry: the working rules behind every class on the timetable.

Unhurried

No performance pace. Their own breath sets the pace.

Welcoming

Every body, every age, every level, and a donation class every week.

Practical

Classes built for desk backs and busy heads, not for photographs.

Honest

Teachers who say ‘I don’t know’, and no supplements at the front desk.

Your mat is already out.

Come to Sunday’s donation class and meet the place before you commit to anything, or book your first class at half price.
