SERVICES

Hearing, tinnitus, wax and balance

We are audiologists, not hearing aid retailers. About a third of the people who come in for a hearing test leave without being sold anything, because that was the honest answer.

What we do, and who each one is for

Every entry says who it suits and what it costs before you book it.

Free hearing check

Everyone, any age

A twenty-minute screening that tells us whether there is a measurable loss and whether a full assessment is warranted. No cost, no obligation, and you will not be sold anything at this appointment.

Full diagnostic assessment

Referred or self-referred

Pure tone audiometry, speech testing in quiet and in noise, tympanometry and otoscopy. You leave with an audiogram you can actually read and a report sent to your GP.

Hearing aid fitting

After assessment

Devices programmed to your audiogram and then verified with real-ear measurement — an actual microphone in your ear canal confirming the aid is delivering what the prescription says.

Tinnitus assessment & management

Ringing or buzzing

A full assessment plus a structured management plan — sound therapy, habituation strategies, and where appropriate a referral for tinnitus-focused CBT. Nobody here will tell you to simply live with it, and nobody will promise a cure either, because there is not one.

Ear wax removal

All ages

Microsuction under direct visualisation. Safer and more comfortable than water syringing, and we can do it on an ear with a perforation or a grommet, which syringing cannot.

WorkCover claims

Audiometry and reporting for noise-induced hearing loss claims through WorkCover Queensland, billed directly to the insurer with a claim number.

Custom ear protection

Musicians, trades, swimmers

Impressions taken here and moulded plugs made to fit. Musicians’ plugs reduce volume evenly across frequencies rather than muffling everything, which is why foam plugs are useless on stage.

When we send you to a doctor instead

Some hearing problems are medical, and a hearing aid would mask them rather than treat them. These go straight to your GP or an ENT specialist.

Hearing loss in one ear only. Asymmetric loss needs a medical explanation before anyone fits a device. Straight to a GP for an ENT referral.

Sudden hearing loss. Loss that came on over hours or days is a medical emergency — treatment within 72 hours changes the outcome. Go to a GP or emergency department today, not to a hearing clinic.

Pain, discharge or recent infection. Not a hearing aid problem. We will look, tell you what we see, and send you to a doctor.

Dizziness or vertigo with hearing loss. Needs a proper medical work-up. We do vestibular screening but the diagnosis belongs with an ENT specialist.

NOT SURE

Not sure what you need?

Ring and describe it — free 20-minute check, no obligation, and if you do not need a device we will say so.
