We tell you what the hearing aid costs, and what our service costs, as two separate numbers.
Almost every hearing clinic in Australia bundles the device and years of appointments into one figure, then discounts the “package” to look competitive. We list the device price, the fitting fee and the aftercare fee separately — so you can see exactly what you are paying for.
Not on commission, not owned by a manufacturer
Four facts about how this practice runs. None of them is a promise about how well you will hear — nobody can tell you that before an assessment.
Independent, in the same Aspley shopfront.
Hearing tests here that end with no device sold.
Manufacturers we fit. We are owned by none of them.
To return a hearing aid for a full device refund.
Six signs it’s time to get checked
Hearing loss comes on slowly enough that the people around you usually notice before you do. Any two of these is worth twenty minutes.
Turned up too loud
You turn the television up and others turn it down.
Cafes are exhausting
Conversation in a cafe or pub takes real effort to follow.
Repeating themselves
People repeat themselves several times a day, more than they used to.
Mumbled, not quiet
Voices sound mumbled rather than simply too quiet.
Avoiding groups
Group dinners and family gatherings feel like harder work than they should.
Ringing or buzzing
Ringing or buzzing in one or both ears, on and off or all the time.
Why “$4,000 a pair, all inclusive” hides the problem
A bundled price ties you to one clinic for years of appointments you have already paid for, whether you use them or not, and it makes the device itself impossible to compare. Split out, the same fitting here typically comes to less, and if you move cities next year you have not lost years of prepaid aftercare.
Hearing aid, mid level
Per aid. Directional microphones and genuine noise reduction — the tier most of our clients choose.
Fitting fee
Programming, real-ear verification, and two reviews in the first month. Charged once, listed separately from the device.
What we do
We are audiologists, not hearing aid retailers — about a third of the people who come in for a hearing test leave without being sold anything, because that was the honest answer.
Hearing & diagnostics
Where every visit starts.
- Free hearing check. Twenty minutes, screening only, no cost and no obligation.
- Full diagnostic assessment. Sixty minutes of proper audiometry with a written report to your GP.
Fitting & devices
Programmed and verified, not just switched on.
- Hearing aid fitting. Real-ear measurement and two follow-up reviews in the first month.
- Custom ear plugs. Moulded for musicians, tradespeople, shooters and swimmers.
Ears & tinnitus
Everything else that walks through the door.
- Tinnitus assessment & management. A structured plan — nobody here will promise a cure, because there is not one.
- Ear wax removal. Microsuction under direct vision, safer and more comfortable than syringing.

Pensioner Concession Card
Full coverage for assessment, a subsidised aid, batteries and annual maintenance.
DVA Gold or White Card
Covered, including for hearing loss related to service.
Some other categories
Certain Centrelink recipients and NDIS participants. Ring and we will check your eligibility for free.
No sales visit
We will quote from photographs where we honestly can.
Your audiologists
Two audiologists and a practice manager. There are two different jobs in this industry — you should know which one you are seeing.

Questions worth asking any hearing clinic
The things worth asking before you book anywhere, not just here.
Is the free hearing check a sales appointment?
No, and you can hold us to that. It is a twenty-minute screening that tells you whether there is a measurable loss. About a third of the people who come in for a test here leave without being sold anything, because the honest answer was that they did not need a device yet. Nobody is on commission, so there is nothing to gain from telling you otherwise.
Why do you not quote one “all-inclusive” price?
Because a bundled price hides what the device actually costs and locks you into years of prepaid appointments at one clinic. Split out, you can see the device price, compare it anywhere, and pay for aftercare only in the years you use it. It also makes the comparison honest — a “$4,000 a pair, all inclusive” quote elsewhere may well be a $1,200 device with $1,600 of bundled appointments.
Do I really need two hearing aids?
If you have a measurable loss in both ears, yes — two ears is how your brain works out where a sound came from and separates a voice from background noise. If the loss is genuinely in one ear only, you need a medical opinion before a device.
What is the difference between an audiologist and an audiometrist?
An audiologist holds a masters degree in audiology and is qualified to diagnose hearing and balance disorders. An audiometrist or hearing aid consultant holds a shorter vocational qualification focused on testing and fitting devices. Both are legitimate roles — you are entitled to ask which one you are seeing.
What if the aids do not help?
Return them inside sixty days and the device cost is refunded in full. The fitting fee covers work already done and is not refunded. Around one fitting in fourteen comes back, and nobody is made to feel awkward about it.
