Audiologists, not hearing aid consultants

An audiologist holds a masters degree in audiology and is qualified to diagnose. A hearing aid consultant or audiometrist holds a shorter vocational qualification focused on fitting devices. Both are legitimate; they are not the same, and you should know which one you are seeing.

Who you will see

Nobody here carries a caseload they have not assessed themselves.

Dianne Halvorsen, audiologist and owner

Dianne Halvorsen

Audiologist & owner · here since 2010

Dianne worked for one of the large national chains for seven years, where the monthly target was measured in units sold rather than people helped. She opened this practice to unbundle the pricing and remove the commission, both of which cost her money and neither of which she regrets. She handles the diagnostic and tinnitus caseload.

Raj Pillai, audiologist

Raj Pillai

Audiologist · here since 2017

Raj does most of the fittings and all of the real-ear verification. He also runs our home-visit list for clients in residential aged care or no longer driving, which is about a day and a half of his week and is the part of the job he would keep if he had to choose.

Here since 2017 · Tue–Sat

Colin Beattie, practice manager

Colin Beattie

Practice manager · here since 2014

Colin handles the Hearing Services Program paperwork, the health fund checks and the WorkCover claims. If you want to know what your extras policy will rebate before you choose a device, he will ring your fund and find out rather than guess.
