Blackbutt Decks & Pergolas

What we build

Three ways to make a Brisbane backyard usable, and one approach to all of them: drainage first, engineered, approved before a post goes in.

Hardwood decks

Spotted gum, blackbutt or merbau over a hardwood or steel frame. Built high off the ground on a sloping block, or low and wide off a slab.

  • New decks, and deck rebuilds or repairs
  • Hardwood or steel frame
  • Ventilation and fall designed in, a gap at the house
  • Anything over a metre high is engineered and certified

Pergolas

Open-batten shade over a deck, courtyard or poolside. Oriented and spaced for the sun angles your yard actually gets, which is the whole trick.

  • Open batten, set for your sun angles
  • Over a deck, courtyard or poolside
  • Can be roofed later, or over half the space

Covered outdoor rooms

Insulated roof panel or Colorbond over a full deck, with fans, lighting and power. This is the one that turns into the room you use most.

In every quote

The approvals are inside the price

You do not lodge anything or chase anyone.

Plans and engineering

Footing sizes from a real engineer for your soil class and wind rating. Anything over a metre high or attached to the house needs it.

Private certifier

Faster than council. We lodge and keep you posted.

Final inspection

Certificate issued before handover. A buyer’s inspector looks for it first.

Our own trades

An electrician and a roofer we have used for years. No one else on site.

Common questions

Do you do…?

Anything over a metre high or attached to the house legally needs engineering. We handle plans, engineering, the private certifier and the final inspection, and it is all in the quoted price.

Yes. We start with the cause. One client’s deck had rotted where it met the house because of a blocked gutter, so we fixed that first, then rebuilt.

Not necessarily. We have engineered a deck level with the kitchen floor on a block that falls away steeply, where other builders said it would need to drop a metre.

Yes, but it is worth designing for it. Decks and covers can be quoted together, or you can cover half the space now.

We do not publish prices. The design visit is free and leaves you with a sketch and a realistic budget. After that you get one fixed price with approvals inside it. No deposit and no design fee to get started.
