About

Shooting weddings since 2019, one approach.

I photograph weddings the way I would want mine photographed, which is to say: mostly from a distance and always honestly.

Who you would be booking

I started in news photography, which is why I shoot weddings this way.

Six years on a regional Queensland paper teaches you to find the moment in a room without arranging it, to work in whatever light exists, and to be somewhere for hours without becoming part of the story. Every one of those habits turned out to be exactly what a wedding needs.

I have been photographing weddings since 2019, from twelve-person elopements to three-day celebrations. I still shoot on the same two cameras with two lenses, I still never use flash during a ceremony, and I still find the speeches the most interesting hour of the day.

How I work

Four things I will always do

These are in the contract, not just on the website.

◆

No posing, beyond the groups

Fifteen minutes of family photographs done efficiently, then I am out of your way for the rest of it.

◆

Full pricing published

Every figure is on this site. You should never have to book a call to find out whether someone is affordable.

◆

Every usable frame delivered

No holding back photographs for an album upsell. You get the whole edited gallery, high resolution, yours to print anywhere.

◆

A second photographer, if it needs one

Some days genuinely need two. I will tell you if yours does and I will not charge for one that does not.

The day, in four parts

What I am usually doing, and when

Roughly how a full day breaks down, though every wedding rearranges it.

Morning

Two hours of getting ready. Quiet, unstructured, and where a surprising number of the best photographs come from.

Ceremony

Available light only, no flash, from the back and the side. You will not hear a shutter over the registrar.

Guests mingling on a sunlit lawn between ceremony and reception

The middle

Drinks, groups, and the long useful stretch where everyone relaxes and forgets there is a photographer.

Evening

Speeches, first dance and an hour of proper dancing. I leave once the floor is full and the photographs start repeating.

In numbers

Deliberately limited

The cap is the reason the editing turnaround is what it is.
