I will not ask you to look at me once all day.
No posed group after posed group, no shot list, no hour of your wedding spent standing in a field. I photograph what actually happens, and you get a day you remember rather than a day you performed.
The best photographs of your wedding are the ones nobody arranged.
I shoot documentary, which means I spend the day close to what is happening and largely out of the way of it. You will get a handful of family groups because your mother will want them, done properly in fifteen minutes rather than an hour. Everything else is simply the day as it went.
Three kinds of day
Twenty weddings a year, no more. It is the only way I can give each one the editing time it needs.
Full day
From getting ready to the middle of the dancing. Around eleven hours and about six hundred finished photographs.
Small weddings
Registry offices, elopements, thirty people in a pub garden. Half days and short days, priced properly rather than as an afterthought.
Before the day
An hour somewhere you actually like, mostly so you get used to me being there. Included with full-day bookings.
Twelve months, six weddings
Shown as they were delivered, without the greatest-hits editing that makes every photographer’s portfolio look identical.
Morning
Before anyone is nervous.
Vows
The bit that matters.
Confetti
Twelve seconds, one chance.
Speeches
Watching the room, not the speaker.
Dancing
Available light, always.
Ten minutes out
The only bit I arrange.
