Lower back pain
The most common thing through our door, and the one most often mismanaged. Most lower backs do not need a scan, do not need six weeks off, and do not need someone cracking them once a fortnight forever.
YOUR FIRST 40 MINUTES
What actually happens in the room
What you were doing when it started
How it began tells us more than an MRI does. We go through the last fortnight properly — work, training, sleep, the lot.
Testing, not guessing
Movement screening, strength testing and neurological checks where they are warranted. You will see the results, not just hear a conclusion.
Treatment on the day
Hands-on work to settle the joint and the muscle guarding around it, so you can move enough to start loading it again.
Three things to do this week
Emailed with sets, reps and a photo. If you can only do one of them, we will tell you which one matters most.
See a doctor first if
Physiotherapy is a first-contact profession and you do not need a referral — but a small number of back presentations belong with a doctor before they belong with us. If any of these apply to you, ring your GP or go to an emergency department rather than booking here.
Numbness in the groin or saddle area
Loss of bladder or bowel control
Unexplained weight loss alongside back pain
Pain after a significant fall or crash
Fever alongside new back pain
Progressive weakness in a leg
THE NUMBERS
How a back case is handled here
These are operating facts about how this clinic runs an appointment — not claims about how anyone’s back turned out. No physiotherapist can promise you a result, and one advertising a discharge rate is telling you something about their marketing rather than your spine.
First appointment usually inside 48 hours
No referral needed. Ring between 6:30am and 7pm weekdays and somebody here picks it up.
