Everything included, and what the monthly fee actually is.
Real published figures. Your quote will be one of these three unless your business is genuinely unusual.
What we actually do through the year
Most of it happens quietly. The visible part is the filing.
Bookkeeping and BAS
We will set you up on software that suits how you actually work rather than what we find easiest, and either do the bookkeeping for you or train you to do it in an afternoon. BAS is prepared and lodged on time, with a check on whether the reporting method you are on is still the right one.
Tax and statutory accounts
Statutory accounts, company tax return or individual tax return, and the director’s personal return where relevant. We aim to have everything drafted months before the deadline, because a return prepared in a rush is where mistakes and missed deductions live.
Payroll and the ongoing questions
Single Touch Payroll, superannuation and the steady stream of questions that come with employing people. This is the part that is hardest to price hourly and the reason we do not try.
Four things people expect to pay extra for
All within the monthly fee.
Unlimited questions
Phone, email or drop in. No clock, no minimum, and no awkwardness about whether it was worth ringing.
Deadline chasing
Reminders well in advance and a call if we have not heard from you. Penalties are avoidable and we treat them as our job to avoid.
Software and setup
Licence, setup and an hour’s training. Included for the first year and usually included after that too.
Dealing with the ATO
We handle correspondence and routine queries on your behalf so you are not deciphering letters on a Friday afternoon.
Three fixed monthly fees
All prices include GST and are agreed for twelve months at a time. Everything listed above is included in each.
Sole trader
Tax return, accounts, software and unlimited questions. Bookkeeping added in full if you would rather not do it.
Company
Statutory accounts, company tax return, BAS, one director’s personal return, software and unlimited questions.
Company with payroll
Everything above plus Single Touch Payroll for up to ten employees, superannuation and employment questions as they come up.
Asked before people move to us
Almost none of it lands on you. We write to your current accountant for professional clearance and your records, chase them if they are slow, and set everything up at our end. Most switches are done inside three weeks and you can move at any point in the year.
There is no such thing here, and if someone is ringing a lot it usually means the business is at an interesting point rather than that they are a problem. The fee is set knowing that some clients will use us far more than others.
We will make sure you claim every relief and allowance you are properly entitled to, and that the structure of the business suits your situation. We do not go near contrived schemes, and if anyone offers you one, that is a good moment to ring us.
Sometimes, and less often than people assume. It depends on your profit level, whether you need the money out personally, and how much extra admin you are willing to carry. We will run your actual numbers both ways and show you the difference before you decide.
We chase, and we chase early, because filing penalties help nobody. If a deadline is genuinely at risk we will tell you plainly what the consequences are rather than letting it drift.
Send last year's accounts. Get a fixed fee in two working days.
If your current arrangement is better value, we will tell you that instead.
