Coorparoo · general practice since 1998

A family practice that tells you what you'll pay and when you can be seen.

Six GPs, six days a week, in Coorparoo since 1998. Children under 16, pensioners, Health Care Card holders and DVA patients are bulk billed. Everyone else pays $95 for a standard consult and gets $42.85 back from Medicare on the spot.

Not an emergency service. For chest pain, breathing difficulty, stroke symptoms or serious injury, call 000.

NEED TO BE SEEN TODAY?

Four ways in without a pre-booked appointment

Same-day slots, 7:30am

A block of appointments is released each morning for problems that started in the last day or two. Ring at 7:30 rather than 9 — they go quickly.

Sick children

Under-fives are fitted in on the day, whatever the list looks like. Just say the age when you call.

Nurse appointments

Dressings, injections, blood pressure and ECGs. Usually available within the hour and cheaper than a GP visit.

Telehealth

Phone consults for results, scripts and follow-ups if you have been in within the last twelve months.

After hours, the National Home Doctor Service covers our patients on 13 74 25, and we receive their notes the next morning.

QUESTIONS

Common questions

The things people ask on the phone before they book.

Are you taking new patients?

Yes — five of our six GPs have open books. Dr Field is closed until January. Our doctors page lists who is open and which days they consult, so you can pick before you ring.

Do you bulk bill?

For children under 16, pension and Health Care Card holders, DVA card holders, all immunisations, care plans and health assessments — yes, always. Everyone else pays a private fee. A standard consult is $95 with a $42.85 Medicare rebate, leaving $52.15 out of pocket.

How do I get an appointment today?

Ring at 7:30am when the same-day block opens. If you are calling later in the day and it is genuinely urgent, tell reception what it is — they hold a small number of slots back for exactly that, and sick children under five are fitted in.

Can I get a prescription without an appointment?

No. It is not about the fee — medication reviews are where we catch interactions, dose problems and conditions that have changed since the script was written. A short telehealth consult is enough for most repeats if you have been in within the last year.

What do I do outside your hours?

For anything life-threatening, call 000. For after-hours care that can wait until a doctor can come to you, the National Home Doctor Service attends our patients at home on 13 74 25 and sends us their notes the next working morning.
