What we bake

Everything here was made here.

The ovens start at 4am so the shelves are full by seven. Nothing is par-baked, nothing arrives frozen.

What we offer

On the shelves

Three things daily, and three things to order ahead.

Sourdough and bread

Naturally leavened from a starter that has been fed every day since 2012.

Pastries

Croissants, pain au chocolat and danishes, laminated by hand each morning.

Cakes and traybakes

Cut by the slice from the counter, while they last.

Celebration cakes

Made to order with 48 hours’ notice. We will talk sizes through before you commit.

Large bread orders

For shops, cafés and events. Same 48 hours, and we will tell you if we cannot manage it.

What we do not do

No par-baked bread, no bake-off from frozen, and nothing brought in from another bakery.
Worth knowing

Come early, or order ahead

Popular loaves sell out most days by 11am, and on a Saturday closer to nine. The counter changes through the day as things come out of the oven, so what is there at eight is not what is there at noon.

If you need a specific loaf on a specific day, ring ahead and we will put it aside. That is free and it is the single thing most people wish they had known.

What we offer

On the shelves

Three things daily, and three things to order ahead.

Do you really sell out?

Most days, yes. We bake to what we can sell fresh rather than to a target, which is why there is nothing left by mid-afternoon.

Can I reserve a loaf?

Yes, ring the day before and we will hold it until noon. No charge and no deposit.

How much notice for a cake?

Forty-eight hours for anything made to order, and a week in December.

Do you do gluten-free?

Content slot — the live site does not say, and a bakery gets asked this daily.

Do you supply cafés and shops?

Yes, on a standing weekly order. Ring the bakehouse rather than using the form.

Why are you closed on Mondays?

One day off in seven. The starter still gets fed.

Fresh from the oven

Order for an event

Cakes and large bread orders need 48 hours. Everything else is first come, first served.
