Three zones, one day

Walk it in this order

Most guides sort this coast by beach. The sand is one continuous fourteen kilometres; what changes is the hour.

The season

203 days, rebuilt every October

Goa’s beach shacks are temporary buildings. They go up after the monsoon, come down in May, and outside 24 October to 15 May there is nothing on the sand but poles. Late November and mid-January are the two weeks worth planning around.

How to walk a day of it

Three moves, no bookings

  1. Before eleven, go south

Sinquerim and Candolim are empty and cheap until the day-trip buses arrive.

  2. Lunch in the middle

Calangute and Candolim are where the fish counters are. Eat at 12:30, not 2.

  3. Cliff for the light

Be on the Vagator side by five.

  4. Baga for the night

Come back down when you’re hungry again.

What people get wrong

Both are fixable before you leave the room

Fourteen kilometres is twenty minutes on a scooter and forty in a taxi at dusk.

  • Season

24 October to 15 May. Outside those dates there is nothing on the sand but poles.

  • Getting between zones

Which of scooter or taxi you want changes at sunset.

No paid placementsNobody pays to be on the trail, and nobody pays us for sending you.
