Preschool for ages 2-5 — Chapel Hill

Small people. Big mornings.

Little Meadow is a 32-place preschool with a garden at its heart — key educators who know your child properly, mornings outdoors in all weathers, and a photo diary that shows you the day you missed.

What we believe

Childhood isn't a curriculum. It's a climate.

Two-to-fives don’t learn from laminated timetables — they learn from adults who are genuinely interested in them, rooms worth exploring, and time to finish the game. Our job is building that climate and guarding it fiercely.

The learning outcomes follow. They always do — we just don’t make three-year-olds queue for them.

A day at Little Meadow

Three things every day includes.

Whatever the weather, whoever the child.

Garden mornings

Free-flow between rooms and garden, wellies by the door, mud kitchen open in all weathers. Waterproofs provided; laundry sympathy free.

Key educator time

Every child has one adult who knows them best — their words, their worries, their current obsession. That’s who you talk to at pick-up.

Proper lunches

Cooked on site by Marisa, eaten together at small tables — menus shared weekly, fussiness handled with patience, not pressure.

What parents say at pick-up.

★★★★★
“Her key educator knew she was ready to drop the nap before we did. That's the level of attention — they see the child, not the roomful.”
Hana S., Chapel Hill

Parent of Aiko, age 3

★★★★★
“The photo diary got me through my first month back at work. Twelve seconds of him painting at 10am fixed the whole day.”
Daniel O., Chapel Hill

Parent of Zeke, age 2

★★★★★
“He started school able to put on his own coat, argue his case politely and dig a genuinely impressive hole. Priorities correct, in my view.”
Carys B., Chapel Hill

Parent of Huw, graduated 2025
