Halloway & Finch

A local firm doing the work that actually affects people: houses, wills, families and employment. Fixed fees wherever we can quote one.

SHERWOOD ROAD, SINCE 1976

Older than most of the shops around it.

Halloway & Finch has practised law from the same address on Sherwood Road for forty-eight years, through three different signs above the door and a good number of the shops either side changing hands more than once. Eleven people work there now, two of them partners, and the firm has never chased the big-city work that would mean growing much bigger.

The reasoning is straightforward. A house purchase, a will or a separation is rarely the client’s first legal matter and it is usually not their last either, and a firm that stays put and stays known is easier to come back to than one that has moved on or been bought out.

OUR WORK

Four areas, done properly.

We do not pretend to be a big-city firm. We do the work the local community needs.

Property

Buying, selling, transfers of equity and leases. A fixed fee quoted at the outset that includes the things other firms bill separately.

Wills and probate

Wills, enduring powers of attorney and estate administration. We will tell you when a simple will is genuinely all you need.

Family and employment

Separation, children arrangements, settlement agreements and unfair dismissal. Fixed-fee first meetings.

“They quoted a fixed fee, stuck to it, and rang me on settlement day before I had to ring them.”
