Tom Ashcroft writes about the years a farm doesn’t recover quickly from. He is the author of the memoir Ten Dry Years, the essay collection Fence Lines, The Weather Book and Small Rain. He writes a column for a regional newspaper (fictional) and speaks at writers’ festivals and community halls on rural mental health, told as story rather than advice. He still farms.
