FEES & FUNDING
$165 a session, and four ways to reduce it
Speech pathology is expensive and the funding system is genuinely confusing. This page explains every pathway, including the ones most families are never told about.
What it costs, before you book
Every fee here is the fee you actually pay, before any rebate. Our rates sit at or below the NDIS price limit for speech pathology, which is why NDIS-funded families pay no gap.
Initial assessment
90 minutes, including a written report within a week.
School or kindy visit
45 minutes plus travel within our area.
Telehealth session
45 minutes, same rebates apply.
Reduced-fee place
Two held for families in hardship — just ask.
Review assessment, between blocks
45 minutes, re-measuring the same goals.
Report for NDIS plan review
Billed at the NDIS hourly rate, quoted first.
Missed session inside 24 hours
Waived the first time, every family.
Fees reviewed each July. If cost is a barrier, ask about a reduced-fee place or Queensland Health’s free community speech pathology — we will help you get on that list rather than pretend it does not exist.
What a course of therapy costs
Assessment + one block of eight
Nine sessions in total — our shortest course.
Assessment + two blocks, with a GP care plan
Seventeen sessions, five of them rebated at about $60 each.
Assessment + three blocks of eight
Twenty-five sessions in total, with a review between each block.
NDIS
Medicare — the one most families miss
Private health extras
We are a registered provider. Plan-managed and NDIA-managed plans are invoiced directly — nothing for you to pay or claim. Self-managed families pay us and claim it back. We charge at the NDIS price limit, not above it, so there is no gap. Report writing for plan reviews is billed at the NDIS rate and quoted first.
If none of it stretches far enough
Ask your GP about a Chronic Disease Management plan. If your child qualifies, it gives five rebated allied health sessions a calendar year at about $60 back each. There is also a Helping Children pathway worth up to twenty rebated sessions, which needs a paediatrician referral. Very few parents are told this exists.
No call-out charge
Most extras policies rebate $40 to $70 a session with an annual cap. You cannot claim Medicare and private health for the same session — we will work out which is worth more for your policy and use that one first.
No sales visit
Tell us. We hold two reduced-fee places at $95 for families in genuine hardship, and there is no means test beyond you saying so. Queensland Health also runs free community speech pathology for children, with a long wait — it is a real option and we will help you get on the list.
First assessments are usually available within three weeks
No referral needed for a first appointment. Ring between 8:30am and 5:30pm weekdays and we will find a time.
