We chose to hold less, and read all of it.
The Corner Page has never tried to stock everything in print. Since 2009 the decision has been the opposite: keep the shelves small enough that every member of staff can genuinely have read, or at least started, what’s on them.
That means some requests get a special order rather than an instant sale, usually in within two or three days. It also means a recommendation here comes from someone who has actually finished the book, not from what a publisher paid to have on the front table.
