A plain-English way to finally invest with confidence

For first-time investors, 35–55.

No jargon, no stock tips — just the research process a fee-only adviser would walk you through, taught as a repeatable method.

Maybe this sounds familiar

✕

Cash sitting in savings. You’ve got money in a savings account because investing still feels risky and confusing.

✕

Everyone assumes the jargon. Every finance video assumes you already know what an index fund is.

✕

Too soon for an adviser. Hiring one feels premature for the amount you’re starting with.

What changes by the end

Not a portfolio someone else picked for you — a way of reaching your own decisions, and the reasoning to defend them.

✓

You understand the reasoning — not just what people buy, but why, so the next decision is yours to make.

✓

You have a written plan — your own allocation, sized to your own numbers, on a single page.

✓

You know what to do when it drops — a rule you wrote in advance, instead of a decision made in a bad week.

Six modules, in plain English

01

How markets actually work

The five-minute mental model that makes the rest of investing make sense.

02

Risk, in real terms

What risk actually means for your time horizon, and how to size it honestly.

03

Index funds vs. everything else

Why simplicity usually wins the reasoning test — and the cases where it doesn’t.

04

ISAs, pensions and tax wrappers decoded

Stocks & Shares ISA, SIPP, workplace pension — in plain English, with a decision tree for which to use first.

05

Building your allocation

A step-by-step worksheet to set your own portfolio mix, based on your own numbers.

06

Staying the course

What to do — and not do — the next time the market drops 20%.

Who this is for

You are somewhere between a savings account and a stockbroker, and you would like to understand the middle.

Has money set aside and no confident idea where it should go next.

Wants to understand the reasoning, rather than be handed a list of things to buy.

Is starting with an amount that makes paying a fee-only adviser feel premature.

Would rather learn a repeatable method once than ask for a tip every year.

BEFORE YOU ENROL

The questions we get asked most.

Do I need to know anything about investing already?

No. Module one starts at what a share actually is. Every term is defined the first time it appears, and nothing assumes you have read a finance book.

Will you tell me what to buy?

No, and that is deliberate. This is a research and decision-making method, not a tip sheet. You finish with your own written plan and the reasoning behind it — which is the part that still works next year.

How much do I need to start with?

The method works the same at £500 as at £50,000. Module five sizes an allocation to your own numbers rather than to a worked example.

How long does it take?

About three hours of video across six modules, plus the worksheets. Most people spread it over a fortnight and finish the plan as they go.

Is this financial advice?

No. It is educational content and it does not recommend any specific investment. Capital is at risk — the value of investments can fall as well as rise. For advice on your own circumstances, speak to a regulated adviser.

What if it turns out not to suit me?

Email the team within 14 days and you get a full refund. You keep the First-Time Investor Checklist either way.

Enrolment for the current cohort closes Friday — the next one opens in March.
