Brightwell Community Trust

A local charity running youth clubs, food support and community space for the Brightwell area. Every dollar raised locally, stays local.

Brightwell Community Trust story
HOW IT STARTED

Started by residents, still run mostly by volunteers.

Brightwell Community Trust was set up in 2014 by a small group of residents who were tired of watching youth provision and food support get cut in the area with nothing local stepping in. Ten years on it is still mostly volunteer-run, with a roster of volunteers that has grown every year since.

We publish where the money goes every year: a plain breakdown, not a glossy report, because in a charity this size, trust is the thing that actually keeps it running. We are registered with the ACNC, and our Annual Information Statement is public record.

WHAT WE RUN

Three things, all local.

We are small enough that every donation and every volunteer hour is visible in what actually happens.

Youth clubs

After-school and weekend sessions for ages 8–16, free to attend.

Community food support

A weekly food pantry, no means test, no questions asked.

Community space

A hall available to local groups, free or low-cost.

“Used the food pantry through a rough patch two years ago and now volunteer there every Saturday. This place actually changes things.”
